The international container wharf at Lae Tidal Basin in Lae, PNG is 240m long, 40.82m wide and had been designed for Liebherr P157L STS crane. The terminal operator ICTSI decided to use different carne and P&M undertook the structural assessment of the wharf to determine the maximum allowable crane load. Scope of services included review existing design, gap analysis, undertake structural assessment for limit states and seismic loading conditions in associate with other wharf operational loads, determine the maximum allowable crane wheel configuration and loading, produce documentation for authority approval and liaise with the operator to choose the best suit STS crane for the facility.
