My background

Venket is the Managing Director of P&M Consultants Pty Ltd and has about 40 years’ experience in port and maritime civil engineering, specialising in engineering feasibility studies, planning, design and management, construction management and supervision of ports and maritime structures. He has led or undertaken a wide range of large and small container ports and marine facilities including cruise shipping and ship repair projects in Australia, New Zealand, Middle–East, the Pacific and Asia.

Prior to becoming a co-founder of P&M Consultants in March 2020, Venket has held the following positions:

• AECOM – Industry Director (Ports & Maritime) for 10 years (2009 to 2020).
• KBR – Principal Engineer and Industry Director (Ports & Marine) for 20 years (1999 to 2009)
• Ports Authority of Fiji – Port Engineer and Act Director Engineering for 10 years (1979 to 1999)
Some representative projects and studies undertaken or managed by Venket include:
• Review of Lyttleton Port of Christchurch, NZ Reinstatement and Development Plan
• Preparation of master plan and preliminary design for the Webb Dock Precinct in Melbourne comprising reclamation, post-Panamax container berths and 5 general cargo and PCC berths (estimated to cost over $2b).
• Engineering feasibility, review of terminal layout, concept and detailed design and costing for the Automated Stacking Crane (ASC) operation at DP World’s West Swanson Container Terminal in Melbourne
• Preparation of Master Plan and preliminary design for Samalaju Port Project in East Malaysia to handle dry bulk, containers and general cargo involving extensive reclamation (estimated to cost over $1.5b)
• Master Plan, Preliminary Design for state of art ROPAX vessel for TT Line Co Pty Ltd
